Underground parking can be reserved subject to availability. The Green Citadel of Magdeburg is one of Friedensreich Hundertwasser's final architectural projects. Its pink façade, dancing windows, golden domes, green roofs and individually designed columns make it one of the city's best-known landmarks. At artHOTEL, this distinctive architecture is combined with personal service and a relaxed atmosphere. A breakfast buffet, free Wi-Fi, a 24-hour bar and sauna complement your stay.       "content": "artHOTEL · GRÜNE ZITADELLE History The Green Citadel of Magdeburg, a multifunctional residential and commercial building, was created by Friedensreich Hundertwasser and completed in 2005. It is the last completely designed and realised building that Friedensreich Hundertwasser worked on until shortly before he died on February 19th, 2000. Every window has its own individual shape. The roof is covered with grass - this is how the building received ist name. There is a numerous amount of trees: some of them on the roof, others on the walls outside the building. Residents of the building take care of the so-called “tree tenants”. After completion in 2005 the external condition of the building is no subject to change anymore. The growing trees and the fading house paint eventually may change the look of the building and are supposed to bring up the idea of ageing. Arrival & departure When can I check in? Check-in: from 15:00. Check-out: by 11:00. Is late check-in possible? Yes. Please let us know by 18:00 by email or telephone so that we can keep your room available. Is late check-out possible? Yes. Please ask reception for details and conditions. What do I need to do to check out? If your bill has already been paid, put your room card in the check-out box. Can I leave my luggage after check-out? Yes. No. The hotel has 40 rooms and an apartment on the eighth floor, but no separate meeting room. Where are the emergency exits? They are marked with directional signs. An evacuation plan is displayed on the inside of your room door. Is Wi-Fi free? Yes, throughout the hotel. You will receive the code from reception at check-in. How often are rooms cleaned? Daily. If you do not want cleaning, hang the red card on the door. Please put towels that need replacing on the floor. There are parking possibilities on Breiter Weg, Domplatz, or on many side streets. There, park ticket vending machines were installed by the state capital Magdeburg which operate from 08:00 am to 8:00 pm. Parking there at night is free. Of course you can also make a reservation for a parking space in the hotel-owned parking garage which would cost you 13 € per night. For stays from 1 November 2026: underground parking €15.00 per night. Dogs Your best friend is very welcome with us. Beagle-Lady Jamie is our dog representative and a professionally experienced member of the hotel team. You may ask for first-hand advice for a trip to the next field for dog-walking. Of course, the cleaning of each room will be more time-consuming once a dog has slept in it which is why we charge you 11 € a night.
